WET INK COLLECTIVE IS A VANCOUVER BASED, WRITER-DRIVEN INITIATIVE FOUNDED IN 2012 BY LORETTA SETO, SUSINN MCFARLEN, AND LYNNA GOLDHAR SMITH;
OUR GOAL WAS TO EMPOWER EACH OTHER TO WRITE, DEVELOP AND PRODUCE STORIES FOR STAGE AND FILM AND ENCOURAGE OUR FELLOW WRITERS TO DO THE SAME
FOR 12 YEARS, WE FULFILLED THIS MANDATE BY:
- Facilitating various writing workshops mentored by industry professionals,
- Supporting the writing and development of works by diverse women of all sexual orientations (LGBTQ), ethnicities, ages, and social backgrounds.
- Hiring a group of talented facilitators to lead workshops and create the space for women to sustain a dedicated writing practice.
- Creating a feeling of community and camaraderie with fellow women writers
- Organizing and producing public readings at the arts club
- Hosting and celebrating locally produced women playwrights in salons
Since 2022, we have been hunkering down the three of us to focus on our new work and to offer some small experimental workshops that have been helping us grow new ideas.
Sometimes, small and slow is the best way to let the creative juices simmer, and that’s what we have been doing.
Stay tuned for what’s next, and in the meantime, Keep writing,
